The Wines

Yo El Rey wines are produced in South Africa. We don't own a vineyard, and so we source grapes from trusted farmers around the Cape wine lands who take pride in the fruit that they produce, and who are working to minimise their impact on the soils and environment.

 

We make small batches of wines out of a shared cellar space in Hemel-en-Aarde, working in a low intervention style, both in the vineyards and in the winery. All of our fruit is purchased from farmers around the Western Cape, and of the 2023 vintage, all of that fruit is now farmed without chemicals. The aim is to produce honest and fresh wines, that are unfussy, without additives, and mostly, that we are excited about drinking.
